Pavilion

The Pavilion will be the heart and hub of nearly all daily activities at Lotus House, where meals are served and group activities launched. From quiet nooks and books for coffee or tea or front porch reading to movies, performances, inspirational talks and Lotus House gatherings, the Pavilion will truly be the social center of our resident community.  Isolation is so often the hallmark of homelessness, so our goal in the Pavilion is to engage and promote social inclusion to assist individuals and families alike in feeling welcome, safe, valued, seen and heard.  Night-time family movies, poetry readings, story telling, presentations and speakers, monthly concerts and dance performances, talent shows, birthdays and holiday celebrations will offer something for everyone to remember how good it feels to be in the world, surrounded by family and new friends.

The Pavilion will also include a special “Kid’s Corner,” an educational play area with children’s tablets, books, educational toys and garden projects, designed to teach basic colors, numbers, animals, eco-systems, and even eco-friendly and healthy eating habits to our little ones.

Here are Some Creative Ways to Raise Funds for your Campaign:

  • Invite your family and friends to make a commitment with you to become a Founder with you and sponsor a room together. As an example, if each of 50 friends donate $20 per month for ten months you will have raised $10,000, over five years, $50,000.
  • Host events! Some fun examples: monthly dinners, parties, special occasions and celebrations of any kind (e.g., weddings, birthdays, bat/bar mitzvahs, anniversaries, holidays), flash mob, Pink Party, movie nights, book clubs and other gatherings, donations in lieu of gifts.
  • Become a corporate sponsor or Invite your co-workers to join you as a Founder to sponsor a room.
  • Encourage your place of worship, school, club, sorority/fraternity, or other organization in which you are involved or a member to become a Founder.
  • Ride a bike, dance, swim, run!
